Yesterday it had been a week since my boyfriend broke up with me. I had never gone through a breakup like that before, it was the can’t eat, can’t sleep, can’t THINK straight break up that every girl dreads. The ones Carrie Bradshaw used to write about in “Sex and the City”.
My friends tried to come over and cheer me up, one of my friends took me out and got me good and wasted….that ended badly. Finally someone had a great idea, an idea that would totally turn my mood around. One of my good friends Violet owns a salon in Old Sacramento and said she wanted to bring me down and give my hair a total makeover, make me feel new and happy! I came in, sat down in her chair and she gave me a glass of red wine and an Ipad to play with.
When she turned me around I had long red hair which is exactly what I had been wanting, I just wasn’t brave enough to get it because the boyfriend that had just dumped me wasn’t a fan of red hair. I have been really into the new E network show “Total Divas” and my favorite girl is the one with the bright red hair because she is bold and a villain. My hair isn’t THAT red but hey…you never know what the future holds. Anyways, I hadn’t been listening to the radio because every song made me sad, I hadn’t really been doing anything but sitting at home watching reality TV. When I left the salon yesterday I drove home with all my windows down, my music full blast, I went home, put on a dress and met my friends for dinner. I am now a firm believer that all you need to get over a breakup is a great hair stylist and a little burst of confidence. Okay well not OVER the breakup but now I am motivated to go out and get on with getting over it. Baby steps. Check out the before and after pictures below….what do you think of my new “breakup hair”? Red hair, don’t care.
